5 simple tips to transform your home

Andrew Perrin, 1st January 2017

It's the little things that count. You would be so surprised by how much difference a lick of paint can make to your home's feel and aesthetic. Here's 5 great tips to help you transform your home :

Lighten up small spaces

As Walsall Estate agents, we’ve found that a lot of properties in Walsall can have smaller, darker rooms than the average family would want. Removing a wall can be a great way to open up the space while letting the light to full up the room. If that’s not an option, incorporating glass as opposed to the knocking out the wall is a great way to make the room feel roomier and it’s much easier to comply with building regulations.

Add mirrors to flat doors

This is a really simple way to add value to your property. Flat panel doors are really basic and can sometimes make your home look boring and outdated. Try adding framed mirrors to bathroom or closet doors - it not only looks nice but it also makes the room feel considerably larger. Make sure that you colour match the trim of the mirror with the colour of the door.

Include a feature wall

Pick one wall in the room and make it stand out by adding a pattern. You can do this cost effectively with a stencil or you can add wood or other timeless materials. There are lot’s of great resources online that can show you how to do this cost effectively.

Make the most of original features

If you’re lucky enough to find a how with unique features make sure you keep the character. Take advantage of the oodles of natural light with mezzanines and make sure your decoration and furnishings reflect the building’s past - things like exposed beams, light fittings, brickwork and heavy doors work wonders with these spaces.

Add a water feature to your garden
